Welcome & Introduction
The opening session of the inaugural OEUK North Sea CCS and Hydrogen Summit will set the scene on how the UK has arrived to where it is today and why it has happened. It will lay the foundations for the summit dialogue: what do we need to see to unlock and sustain CCS and hydrogen networks. These networks can support energy security, decarbonisation and industrial ambitions; if done right, we can see benefits for the UK and neighbouring North Sea countries and the region can remain the powerhouse for European energy.
To deliver these critical CCS and hydrogen projects and infrastructure, we need to see short-term delivery and medium-term build out at scale. DNV, through the launch of a commissioned study, will explore the summit theme of an Integrated and Resilient North Sea. The study defines resilience across operational, technical, economic and regulatory dimensions and highlights the CCS and hydrogen networks needed to support UK and wider European ambitions, underpinned by DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook data.

Refreshments break & exhibition visit
Following the morning coffee break the Summit will split into two content streams focussing on CCUS and Hydrogen. Delegates are welcome to self-select which session they wish to attend and are free to move between the streams.
Pioneering Projects in Hydrogen
The Pioneering Projects in Hydrogen session will showcase how first-of-a-kind projects and infrastructure are developing and how they are positioning the North Sea at the heart of the low-carbon hydrogen economy. Focusing on the reuse of existing gas infrastructure, the session will explore how projects can deliver hydrogen for both power generation and industrial decarbonisation. It will highlight the partnerships, delivery challenges and policy frameworks needed to move hydrogen from pilot projects to commercially viable, system-wide solutions.

The Evolving Business Case for CCS
This session will explore how the business case for CCS in the UK is evolving outside of Track 1 and how to ensure a route to market for these projects. Speakers will discuss where the business case needs to move to and how to manage different investor sets, varying use bases and demand, and the policy levers that can be used to unlock movement in projects, driving scale and cost reductions. They will also address the role of regulated revenue frameworks and opportunities for shared infrastructure.

De-Risking Mechanisms and the Transition to Self-Sustaining Markets — Hydrogen
This session will examine how activity across the value chain can de-risk key elements of hydrogen projects and support early hydrogen deployment. It will explore the role that government-backed market creation has had and the elements needed to enable a commercially viable, self-sustaining hydrogen sector — underpinned by scale, cost reduction and infrastructure build-out. Speakers will focus on what industry and policymakers must do now to transition from support-led growth to long-term market competitiveness.
